Radio Tower Rim Pullout (Colorado National Monument View)

The Setup: Small, relatively flat pullout at the end of a winding dirt road near a radio tower entrance overlooking the canyon edge of the Colorado National Monument with views toward Fruita in the distance.

Amenities: None.

The Highlights: Dramatic rim-edge viewpoint with expansive canyon and valley scenery. A quiet and exposed overlook setting with strong wireless connectivity and space for only a couple of vans, making it feel private despite proximity to infrastructure.

Connectivity:

Wireless signals: good at the top (all carriers reported usable)

Access Notes:

Access is via rough, winding dirt road near a radio tower
Two route options:
Rougher 1.3-mile Black Ridge approach from the monument
Easier bypass via N 16 1/2 Rd → Holloway Lane → Radio Tower Rd
Seasonal hazards: winter melt creates frozen ruts and muddy sections requiring 4WD
Truck campers with poor departure angles may scrape on terrain crossings
Once committed, limited/no turnaround until deeper into the track
Not suitable for trailers or large rigs
Fits ~2 Sprinter vans max at site

High-reward overlook camping, but access demands careful route planning and appropriate vehicle clearance.
