Cougar Lake USFS Dispersed Campsite with Lake Access

The Setup: Dispersed camping area on United States Forest Service land providing public access to Cougar Lake. Campsites are located near the lake with additional spots slightly inland (~0.5 miles back from shoreline access points).

The Highlights: A small, quiet alpine-style lake with shallow, grassy-bottom waters. Excellent for paddling (SUP/kayak) and low-key recreation. Very peaceful environment with minimal to no encounters with other campers, offering strong solitude and natural immersion.

Verizon LTE: consistent and usable (including for posting/remote communication)

Access Notes: USFS road access is required but was reported as manageable and uncrowded. Campsites vary between lake-adjacent and slightly set-back positions. Best suited for self-sufficient campers respecting seasonal fire restrictions
