BLM Petrified Wood Pull-Off Campsite
The Setup: Primitive dirt pull-off campsite on Bureau of Land Management land, suitable mainly for vans and smaller vehicles.
Amenities: No facilities or services.
The Highlights: The major attraction is the abundance of petrified wood in the area, much of it agatized or opalized with colorful mineralization. Collecting opportunities exist both in existing dig pits and scattered surface tailings, making this a unique stop for rockhounds and geology enthusiasts.
Connectivity:
Verizon: good service
AT&T: very limited
Access Notes: Access road is rough and requires slow driving, though manageable for careful 2WD vans. Not recommended for larger RVs or low-clearance vehicles. The campsite itself is slightly uneven but workable for van camping.
